WALKING SCORE INSTRUCTIONS

For the Performer

To fully complete and document your performance/walk you will need:
-One GPS device and computer interface cable(any brand or style)
-One digital camera (any brand or style)
-A computer with software for your gps device (we recommend the free program GPS trackmaker)

Although you may still perform the Walking Score without these devices, they are suggested and are necessary to create the documentation of your performance/walk.

You will need to download a key in order to read the Walking Scores. You should take some time before the performance/walk to familiarize yourself with the key and the score so that you can perform it as smoothly as possible. In order to assist in this familiarization, we have provided a practice walking score that runs through the basics you will need to perform a finished composition.

The performance should be done at a location that is familiar to you.

On the score you will find notes that instruct you to take a single digital picture at certain points along your walk. When you stop to take the picture you should mark the site as a waypoint on your GPS device.

Upon completion of your performance/walk you should download the GPS data and images to your computer. Save the images at 400 x 300 dpi jpgs. The GPS data should be saved as a txt file. Download your data on the interface found on the performance documentation page.

The data and images will be processed into a visual representation of your performance/walk which will be shown in the performance documentation section of the walking score website.
